    Customer Service & Sales Representative, F/T Woodstock, ON

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Here at Verduyn Tarps, we manufacture and install Retractable Tarp Systems for flatbed trailers. We also operate a repair shop and a retail store for cargo equipment, tarps, and other truck and trailer accessories. We are a family-owned business that has been around since 1986.

    You are a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible individual who wants to work in our Customer Experience Team at our Woodstock, Ontario location. You thrive on excellence in customer service, assisting customers with outstanding product and industry knowledge, and have a passion for creating meaningful connections.

    ABOUT THE JOB:

    • Provide superior customer service to in-store customers and in-bound callers regarding cargo equipment and related flatbed trucking supply needs
    • Support and assist the counter staff with the sales of equipment and supplies to walk-in customers
    • Communicate closely with customers via their preferred channel of communication (i.e., phone, email, fax, text) to build excellent business rapport
    • Respond to requests for orders, product information, estimates, and lead times, etc. promptly and courteously
    • Take responsibility for order entry while coordinating with Purchasing department to ensure accuracy of in-stock items, including managing the order process through to final delivery to the customer
    • Make outbound calls to our existing customer base as well as cold-calling new opportunities
    • Follow up with customers regarding outstanding quotes
    • Filing invoices, packing slips and work orders
    • Solve challenges - find creative win-win solutions

    ABOUT YOU:

    Our ideal candidate will best fit the description below:

    You’re an exceptional 'people-person' with a strong business acumen. You possess awesome customer service and support skills with a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience. Ideally, you’re no stranger to the trucking industry – particularly, the flatbed industry (this would be a significant asset). You love to wear many hats and work with a sense of urgency. It is apparent that your strong initiative and ability to handle increasing responsibility over time comes naturally. You are a reliable and punctual team player with a POSITIVE ‘can-do’ attitude. You can be counted on to get the job done on time and with attention to detail.

    OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Computer and technology competent
    • Proficient with MS Office and systems software, as required and applicable to the job
    • Experience with using accounting software; specifically, Sage 50 would be an asset
    • Excellent telephone manner
    • Good written and verbal communication skills

     ADDITIONAL INFO:

    • Position is full-time: Monday-Friday with the addition to the occasional Saturday
    • Fast paced environment with good work life balance
    • Bi-lingual candidates with French, Punjab or Hindi speaking capabilities would be looked upon favourably, but not required

    ABOUT THE JOB:

    • Fabricate and assemble components into larger sub-assemblies
    • Utilize hand-held tools such as a drills, grinders, saws, and impact guns
    • Operate machine equipment to fabricate aluminum components
    • Install complete retractable systems onto flatbed trailer
    • Perform repairs to existing trailers and tarp systems
    • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
    • Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets standards
    • Maintain a clean and safe work area

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Welding Experience a bonus
    • Previous experience with electrical and pneumatic hand tools
    • Basic reading skills. Must be able to read and follow directions (English)
    • Experience in Aluminum welding a benefit (training available)
    • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly once trained
    • Ability to read basic CAD drawings for assembly
    • Regularly lift 30-50 pounds
    • Regularly perform repetitive tasks
    • Possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environmen.

    All positions require individuals who possess a technical aptitude. Previous experience in a similar operation is a definite asset but not necessary.

    • Problem solving and troubleshooting experience for mechanical, electrical and process related problems on trailers and tarp systems
    • Welding experience an asset
    • Preventative maintenance experience in facility operations, equipment and proficient in the operation of hand tools
    • Computer and administrative skills
    • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment showing a sense of urgency in work practices
    • Ability to do basic electrical problem solving
