a spark
We were founded in 1986 on the principles of quality, honesty and service, and to this day, Verduyn Tarps is dedicated to delivering the highest quality products for an honest price while providing outstanding customer service.
As a company, we believe in the Japanese principle of Kaizen, which is the philosophy of continuous improvement in the areas of working processes and personal efficiency. In manufacturing, Kaizen is applied to enhance quality, cost, delivery, management and safety. This commitment to continuous improvement and development of our products and services has made Verduyn Tarps a forerunner in tarping system technologies.
Hamilton, ON
room to grow
After starting out as a one-man band and then outgrowing his first one-bay shop on Lake Ave, Lloyd made the big move to 398 Kenora Ave in 2000.
Lloyd tells a famous story about driving his pickup truck through the shop shortly after purchasing it. He was bewildered by how he would ever fill up the 3 bay shop.
This is still the current shop in Hamilton which now routinely has a yard filled to capacity that over 50 employees are proud to call home. In 2021, we celebrated being in business for 35 years.
Detroit, MI
Going International
In the summer of 2005, Lloyd made his first foray into the United States, purchasing a shop in Detroit, Michigan. We started in the ‘Steel Town’ of Ontario, it only made sense to head to the Motor City. After doing some renovations, Lloyd opened the doors for business in January of 2006.
With growing business success comes the need to re-evaluate how we do things here at Verduyn Tarps Inc. After nearly 20 years servicing the Detroit area, it was time to expand our shop. We opted to upgrade to a 109,881 sq. ft. facility directly off the I75 (Exit #37) and 4 miles from the I94. With a larger equipment showroom and more bays to serve you better, our newest Detroit location is all about growth and efficiency.
Gary, IN
further west
After much success in Detroit, Lloyd traveled further down the I-94 to open a 2nd American location at the other end of a very busy Steel corridor. Carrying on the family tradition, Lloyd opened this location with his son, Zak Verduyn.
Woodstock, ON
a new build
For the 4th location, Lloyd decided to build from the ground up. He had long had a vision to set up shop in Woodstock at the intersection of the 401 & 403. In January 2020, we opened the doors to our custom-built, state-of-the-art 14 bay facility.
