FAQs

What is a lumber tarp?
Lumber tarps are the most common among truckers and haulers and are some of the best flatbed tarps you can have. They are normally lighter in weight and can be easily and quickly be used to cover your cargo.

As opposed to general use tarps, the best lumber tarps have flaps to cover the ends of your load, providing a high degree of protection from the elements for the entire load. Of course, they can be used to cover a variety of different loads, including logs, lumber, drywall and other building supplies.

In the image of the products, you have either “HD” or an image of a feather. What does that mean?
HD means the tarp is made out of heavy-duty black vinyl coated PVC material tarp material that is 20 Mil thick and weighs 18 oz. per square yard. Our 18 oz. vinyl material has a cold crack rating of -40C.

The feather means it’s a lighter weight tarp, generally about 25% less for our 2-piece sets and even more for our 3-piece and 4-piece sets. To get the lighter weight, the center and flap of these tarps are made from the same waterproof 18 oz. vinyl tarp material as our heavy-duty tarps, providing UV, rot and oil resistance. To reduce weight, the sides of the lighter-weight tarps are made from water-resistant tear-stop ballistic nylon material with a high strength-to-weight ratio.

What sizes do you carry?
We carry tarps that run all the way from 10 ft. x 10 ft. for a single tarp, up to tarp sets that can be as large as 48 ft. x 36 ft. in a more square configuration, or others that are 48 ft. x 28 ft. plus an upper deck tarp meant for step decks. You can also use the single tarps in pairs to go even longer than that!

What materials are they made of?
Most of these tarps are Heavy Duty and are made from durable, heavy-duty black vinyl coated PVC material that is 20 Mil thick, weighs 18 oz. per square yard, and has a cold crack rating of -40C, making them waterproof, as well as rot, UV and oil resistant.

We use #4 Brass grommets and 2” Stainless Steel D-rings.

Also, each box-stitched D-ring has a vinyl wear patch under it to prevent scuffing and tears from rubber strap connection points.

On our lightweight tarps, the sides are made from water-resistant tear-stop ballistic nylon material with a high strength to weight ratio.

What applications are they best suited for?
We have specific tarps for general use, Step Decks, and B-trains. And our tarps can be used to cover a variety of different loads, including logs, lumber, drywall and other building supplies.
